1868 - Custer returns to cavalry

Col. George A. Custer

       After being suspended from the army due to cruelty and negligence to the men under his command, Col. George A. Custer is invited to return to service by General William Tecumseh Sherman. 

         Sherman wanted the brash young officer to help him prosecute a new policy of total war against the Sioux, Cheyenne, and Arapaho. (for more, click here)
