Fearing that Sitting Bull might stage another uprising, Indian police were sent to arrest him at his home on the Standing Rock Reservation, in North Dakota, after he returned from touring with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.  The Indian police were met with fierce resistance, and after a shootout involving Sitting Bull, his son, and bodyguards, twelve men lay dead, including the famous warrior and medicine man whose name will be forever associated with the Indian's greatest moment of military glory, The Battle of the Little Big Horn.
