Raymond DeMallie is a distinguished professor
of history and ethnography at the University of Indiana. He
has spent much of his career studying and writing about the
treaty-making era in the 19th century. He was
co-collaborator with the renowned Sioux attorney, Vine Deloria Jr.,
on several authoritative books on treaties and Indian ethnography.
His list of publications and scholarly works in the
area of native ethnography is without equal.
