1845 - Mandan/Hidatsa establish Like-a-Fishook Village

       Following the devastating small pox epidemic of 1837, the surviving village Indians moved further upstream to a new village where they would reside until 1892, when the town of Elbowoods was built as agency town for the Three Affiliated Tribes.  Pierre DeSmet would visit them in their new village the following year.
