William Penn makes a treaty for peace with the Delawares
- First treaty with Delaware
The fledgling
government of confederated colonies signs its first treaty of
friendship with the Delaware Indians. Many of the
revolutionary war leaders had fought against the Indians during the
French and Indian War. With these new treaties they hoped to
neutralize the Indian's alliances with the King of England.
