Colonists ratify the Declaration of Independence
The Americans are joined in their War for
independence by England's arch nemisis, France, which will prove to
be a decisive turning point favoring the rebels.
Marquis de Lafayette became a close friend and
confident of General George Washington, and played a pivotal role
in helping the Continental Army beat the troops led by General
Cornwallis at Yorktown, the decisive battle in the Americans War of
Independence.
